Avoid arguing. Stay calm and use body language like nodding your head.

2. Redirect…

Avoid reasoning. Think FAST and find a better topic.

3. Distract...

Avoid shaming. Help change the scene.

4. Reassure…

Avoid lecturing. Stay positive. Address their fear and confirm your help.

5. Reminisce…

Avoid saying “Remember?” Just talk about it… Mom, tell me about your wedding.

6. Repeat…

Avoid saying “I already told you.” Understand they cannot remember.

7. Say “Do What You Can”…

Avoid saying “You can’t.” Help them succeed, allow mistakes.

8. Ask…

Avoid commanding. Give them time to answer or complete the task.

9. Encourage and Praise…

Avoid being condescending. Offer genuine support and praise.

10. Reinforce…

Avoid excessive change. Offer consistent support.
