Security for Your Loved One... and YOU!
A critical part of your loved one's health and safety is being in a safe environment at all times and, if needed, getting medical attention quickly. For those reasons we recommend your Loved One wear a wristband or necklace engraved with important identifying and medical information. Thus if you and your loved one become separated for any reason, the critical information about emergency contacts and medical diagnoses will be available.
This next recommendation may surprise you, but I believe Loved Ones and their Caregivers BOTH need to wear an ID bracelet, wristband, or necklace to alert others about your medical conditions in the event you cannot communicate these yourself. While we don't want to think it could happen, imagine if YOU were ill and unable to alert emergency personnel to be sure someone takes responsibility for your loved one. To add this extra level of security consider ordering your own bracelet/necklace and engraving with the words: 1) My spouse/mother/partner has Alzheimer's 2) Emergency Contact — [phone number] 3) Any medical/medications you may be on.
A final important point: Please don't skip this recommendation thinking you can't find something fashionable or that your loved one "will never wear it." The styles available these days range from quite fashionable to sporty to retro dog-tags. There is something for everyone! See below for examples.
The following information should be included on your ID jewelry.
For your loved one with memory loss:
Patient name
Medical conditions and allergies*
Important medications (example: Vicodin, Albuterol, Lisinopril)
Caregiver’s name and phone number
For caregivers:

Your personal medical conditions and allergies*

*Medical conditions such “memory impaired”, diabetes, seizures, etc. and allergies such as penicillin (or other medications), bee stings, or latex.
